The Cleanest Swimming Holes in the Ozarks: It’s been heating up around the Ozarks, and with that comes fun in the sun! While many are coming out of their COVID-19 haze, it’s no wonder so many are itching to get out of their house and even their town! But with flight and travel restrictions being slow to let up, many are looking for some local fun as opposed to international fun!
Lucky for us, there are many things you can do with your family around the Ozarks. For the purpose of this article, however, we are looking at some pristine and clean swimming holes you can take your spouse to, or the whole family! But first, let’s take a look at our definition of “clean.”
What do You Mean by “Cleanest Swimming Holes in the Ozarks?”
Many people can misconstrue the difference between “clean” water and “clear” water. Sure, the Ozarks has many clear streams, lakes, and rivers, but does that make them clean? E Coli caused by runoff can be a problem in many areas and swimming holes in the Ozarks, but luckily there are few cases that pop up around flowing rivers.

Finger Lakes State Park in Columbia is a perfect watering hole for the whole family. It has a beach and a swim platform!

Located in Middle Brook, this one is great for those who love to swim. Sure, they have some shallow areas for the kiddos, but this place is better for swimmers!

Located downstream from Hammond’s Mill Park, this watering hole is complete with lots of shade and babbling brooks. Perfect for beating the summer heat!

St. Francois State Park, located in Bonne Terre, boasts the Big River. This watering hole comes with shallows, streams, and even secluded clean and cool swimming holes.
